Good News | Q1 2024

Giving back is woven into our company’s DNA. At Wireless Zone®, we know that our employees want more than just a job and our communities need more than just an average phone store. We want our team to feel fulfilled, so we give our employees the resources to give back and enrich their local communities. Throughout January, February, and March, employees at Wireless Zone® and TCC have been getting out into their local communities and starting the year off right by volunteering.

March 2024

Greensburg Bread of Life Event

Our East IN region has a longstanding partnership with Greensburg Bread of Life, a local soup kitchen. The team recently made 670 turkey noodle dinners for their 17th annual turkey noodle drive thru dinner fundraiser.

Clothing Our Kids Event

The DE/MD/VA region came together to donate 14 pairs of brand-new shoes to Clothing Our Kids, an organization they have supported in the past. Clothing Our Kids helps improve the lives of at-risk elementary school children in Sussex County, DE, by providing them with essential school clothing.

East SPCA Volunteer Event

Members of the East leadership team volunteered at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Cincinnati. They cleaned the facility, made dog treats, and assembled dog food bags for those in need. It was a great experience, and they look forward to partnering with the SPCA again!

Helping Local Students

Justin R., PA/NJ district manager, is very passionate about helping children. He uses his volunteer hours to read to students at a local elementary school.

Homes of Hope Volunteer Event

Our WA/ID sales team had a great volunteer event with Cheryl from Homes of Hope, an organization that also received a TCC Gives community grant. Homes of Hope provides free support services to foster, adoptive, and biological families impacted by the foster care system. The team helped set up a fundraiser event for foster kids in the Lewis Clark Valley.

February 2024

Ronald McDonald House Donation

The El Paso, TX, team donated a few hundred toys and gift cards to the Ronald McDonald House. These items were supplied by our VILLAGE employee resource group, a group for caregivers and parents within our company. They loved seeing all the good that happens at Ronald McDonald House and building a relationship for future opportunities.

Humane Society Volunteer Event

Some of our East IN sales team and Asurion, our device insurance provider, volunteered at Humane Society for Hamilton County in Fishers. We have an ongoing partnership with this animal rescue and frequently volunteer by cleaning their facility. We even had one of our volunteers leave the event with a new cat, Kyle!

YWCA Partnership

You’ll frequently find the WA/ID sales team volunteering with their local YWCA. Our team helps feed and supply their community with food – the YWCA usually hands out over 1,000 meals!

Helping a More Than a Phone Partner

More Than a Phone is a nonprofit that keeps survivors of domestic violence connected with free smartphones and data service. Our employees create relationships with local domestic violence shelters to bring the MTAP program to their community.

The DE/MD/VA sales team volunteered at a new More Than a Phone program in their area, Shelter House. They had a storage bin of donations that was not accessible due to lack of time to organize. The DE/MD/VA leadership team rented a U-Haul and emptied their whole storage. They set up the shelves inside, loaded the donated goods back in bins and tubs, disposed of all the trash, and brought their donations to Goodwill.

On Site for Seniors Volunteer Event

The WA/ID sales teams volunteered at On Site for Seniors, an organization that provides adult day care, in home medical care, and caregiver support. They had a blast hanging out with the residents and organizing their storage units.

Teachers Rock 2024

During our Teachers Rock community event, our stores delivered so many care kits filled with school supplies to local teachers. We also bought out Amazon wish lists for 12 teachers, totaling $10,000. Local store teams helped and set up a surprise delivery to their classrooms. We loved seeing the teachers’ smiles and excited students!

January 2024

Meals of Hope Event

At a sales kickoff meeting in Nashville, the regional director team and Store Support employees volunteered with Meals of Hope, packing 30,816 meals! These meals were donated to Second Harvest Food Bank, a partner of Asurion.

Rock the Pantry Connection

During our 2023 Rock the Pantry community event where our stores held food drives, the DE/MD/VA region volunteered with Community Resource Center in Rehoboth Beach, DE. While volunteering, they learned that CRC provides nearly 50,000 meals annually and they were running out of room to store their donations. The team gave them a $3,865 community grant so they could buy an additional commercial freezer.

More Than a Phone Donations

Erik D., Manager of Small Business Accounts, always gives back on his birthday. It’s a way he shows his gratitude for those who helped him throughout the year. His birthday was in November, and it’s taken until now to collect all the phone donations for More Than a Phone across his MN/NE/IA sales region.  This year, on his 7-year work anniversary, he and his region collected about 777 devices to donate to More Than a Phone!

Believe In Tomorrow

Eleva W., from the DE/MD/VA sales region, has been sharing the good that we do with her customers and making connections. While helping a customer and explaining community grants, she learned that they work with a local nonprofit, Believe In Tomorrow, that provides hospital and respite housing services to critically ill children and their families in Maryland and Delaware. Eleva and some other employees from the MD team have two volunteer events set up this year and are excited to grow their relationship!
