National Volunteer Month 2022

April is National Volunteer Month. At Wireless Zone®, we’re proud of our focus year-round on giving back to our local communities. We’re using this month as an opportunity to highlight some of the ways our employees have volunteered this year!

National Pet Day

April 11 was National Pet Day. Some of our teams went out and volunteered at a local animal rescue organization to celebrate the day.

One team went to the Henry County Animal Shelter that helps find loving homes for dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and other small animals (like pigs!). They also return lost pets to their owners. They donated a bunch of supplies to the organization and will be back in the summer to volunteer.

Operation Gratitude

We will be making bears to donate to Operation Gratitude. These Battalion Buddies go to children of deployed military members to bring them some comfort. Operation Gratitude supports and provides tangible acts of gratitude to our troops, military veterans, and first responders both overseas and here at home.

Other Volunteer Efforts

In June, Wireless Zone® will be partnering with Camp Horizons to host their annual WZ Golf Tournament.

On July 31, all stores will be participating in the School Rocks Backpack Giveaway. This event will give free backpacks filled with school supplies to local students.

Every holiday season, Wireless Zone® supports Toys for Tots by hosting toy drives in-store and at the corporate office for both employees and customers to participate.

Throughout the year, Wireless Zone Gives grants money to many local and national nonprofits. In 2021, over $700,000 was granted. See the full list of organizations we have supported here.

One organization we’ve supported over the years is Make-A-Wish, specifically the Michigan chapter of the organization. They’ve granted numerous wishes to children with critical illnesses over the years, like Clara (age 7) who had a kidney transplant and wished for a boat-themed playset, Cherish (age 6) who has a heart condition and wished for a beach vacation, and Hope (age 4) who has brain cancer and wished for a backyard playset.
